Multi-talented artist, producer and music industry entrepreneur J Pinder is back in a big way this year, offsetting his five year absence from solo work with a three EP trilogy (and project of leftovers). What was he doing in that time? Working with Dr. Dre on his Compton project, collaborating with Marsha Ambrosius and Musiq Soulchild, and making waves with Gyld, a music streaming service that he managed to raise $300K for last year.
It’s back to the music though for the talented songwriter, and Pinder isn’t disappointing with a mezmerizing blend of jazz, soul and hip-hop “that takes an emotional journey through different aspects of time and the human process.” What process is at play on “Whoever You Are,” a standout track from his Any Day Now EP? Celebrating anyone “just trying to get it,” as Pinder has described the irresistibly smooth track which he provided visuals for.
The short clip showcases hoards of concertgoers in ecstacy, dancing and swaying to the lush composition, especially the triumphant synth play that synesthizes the glorious moments of carefree celebration during the Fearce Vill-directed video.
