Los Angeles composer Julia Holter‘s wonderful 2015 full-length, Have You in My Wilderness, is blessed with several rich and evocative music videos. First, there was “Feel You”, which depicted Holter and a chronically sad dog named Francis examining hardwood floors and cracks in the sidewalk. And most recently, Holter unveiled the visual for album highlight “Silhouette”. Initially, there’s a sly groove and gossamer instrumental texture, then, as Holter explained in our October profile, the song pivots into a rapturous, ascending passage, intended to reflect the narrator’s encroaching madness. The video, directed by Rick Bahto, cycles through glimpses of Holter in a domestic setting and visions of the natural world just outside. Holter, who’s on tour, basks in flickering aberrations of light at the song’s mightily moving conclusion.
