Watch Downtown Boys Perform “Wave of History” on The Chris Gethard Show

Quinn Moreland

Last week Providence group Downtown Boys stopped by The Chris Gethard Show to perform “Wave of History” off their album Full Communism. We were first introduced to the song via Faye Orlove’s amazing animated video, which features a visualization of lost Native American land, slave routes from Africa, the history of U.S. slave revolts, portraits of revolutionary women of color, and ending with a devastating look at the impact of the United States prison system. Downtown Boys’ performance on season one of variety show’s penultimate episode demonstrates the passion that accompanies their live concerts, including a frenetic saxophone duo, bassist, and drummer, along with the howls of guitarist Joey L DeFrancesco and Victoria Ruiz.
