Never count out Montreal. Its streets are apparently littered with pop song geniuses, muttering the lyrics to their next award-winning album.
Parlovr formed in 2006, on the heels of a Montreal explosion that saw Wolf Parade and The Arcade Fire burning holes in our tongues. Parlovr have that rough around the tightly-constructed edges appeal that was once associated with Wolf Parade. As sloppy as they try to be, these songs are immense anthems for the boisterous concert kids.
Parlovr just won a MIMI (Montreal International Music Initiative) Award for being an emerging band, or something.
Just when I thought I had lost interest in post-punk bands, Parlovr got me excited again. I'll probably listen to Silent Alarm tonight and ponder what happened to my youth.
