Operating under the moniker Big Spider's Back, Yair Rubinstein began recording his full length debut Memory Man last year in his garage studio in Seattle before moving to Brooklyn. Possibly before that cross-country relocation happened, he collaborated with his Seatown homies in USF as a going away present. The result was “Brigitte Bombay”, which rides equal parts Mumbai vibes and the guitar atmospherics of the Pacific Northwest – the whale sounds could be from either location. Acting as the elbow of Memory Man, “Brigitte Bombay” is a cleansing experience from the drum-centric rhythm monster that is the duration of the record. A chance to breathe and escape, but by the time USF seap into a distant refrain you've already drifted far out to sea.
