Stream a new track from Chelsea Wolfe, “The Warden”

Queen of darkness and lordess of haute goth style, Chelsea Wolfe, has a new album coming out on September 3 through Sargent House. Not surprisingly, it is called Pain Is Beauty, and with its first single, “The Warden”, we can affirm that if this maxim is true, we are in a lot of pain right now. The track has a pulse to it, which we haven't seen much of before in Wolfe's music, and there is a sample-heavy, trebley melody that waterfalls on and around its background. It still has the watermarked tone of Chelsea Wolfe's earlier stuff—all haunting echoes and melodrama—but as a single, it feels like a departure for the chanteuse and performer into a denser, more digital territory.
