There are only a few certain things in this world. One is that you do not question why Gwar can still be metal-as-fuck with their bare asses hanging out. A second is that you do not ask whether grown men dressing up in monsters costumes is even cool. And you never ponder if hosting a two day TV variety show at a gallery in Brooklyn will be an insufferable slog through gross-out cues that don't even shock your mom. This is mother effin' Gwar, son.
On Saturday April 10 MF Gallery is hosting a free party and “Slave Print” art show with a brand new series of limited edition art prints created by the Slave Pit artists.
“Contrary to popular belief, Intergalactic Space Monsters GWAR are actually made up of a team of artists from Virginia. These artists, working out of The Slave Pit in Richmond, create and build all of GWAR's props and costumes, but they also work on their own forms of art.”
There will also be performances by Satanic Superhero Robots, DETHRACE,
and Chippy the Homeless Chippopatamus, side project of Gwar's front man
Dave Brockie.
Then on April 16 and 17 at the same gallery, Gwar host their very own variety show, “a twisted version of The Jerry Lewis MS Telethon or the Carol Burnett Show, except with crack…lots of crack.”
CRACK-A-THON will feature interviews by host Oderus Urungus and co-host Balsac The Jaws of Death. Included in the roster are Andrew W.K. (party, party, party), Lloyd Kaufman (Troma Films), Jamey Jasta (Hatebreed, Kingdom of Sorrow), Jimmy Gestapo (Murphy's Law), Mecronos (DETHRACE), Tara McPherson plus more as “Oderus begs for your money to help pay off his gigantic crack bill!” All of this broadcasted online at crackathon.tv.
Don't be a fool, CRACK-A-THON seats are limited, reserve yours here.
