L.A. Girlfriend gets ready to make her NYC debut April 1 at Brooklyn’s Alphaville and announced the forthcoming arrival of the REX EP cycle available March 24, with REGINA available TBD. Inspired by what leading woman Sydney Banta refers to as “the dualities of human nature and the fluidity of character”—where the continuum of the life & post-life is celebrated by highlighting of all the fascination that lies in between. .
Presenting manager Alysia Russo and direction from Shan Liljestrand, Sydney presents the new L.A. Girlfriend single “Death & Peonies” that celebrates the life of her recently passed Nana—pioneering aerobics instructor “Ginger Snaps” (founding ISAT, the International School of Aerobic Training with Sydney’s grandfather). Banta penned further generous reflections via her website that sets the stage for her upcoming REX & REGINA EP cycle. The fitness-centric video for “Death & Peonies” features Alysia embracing all your favorite 80s fitness gurus & heroes with moves that completely match the passion & emotion that is found in practically every LAGF single.

Sydney Banta shared the following insights about her double EPs:

The REX & REGINA double EP is my experiment in being an aggressive romantic. There is so much complexity in human character and our emotional processes—not to mention the intensity of how we feel and the consequences we face as a result. I believe the fluid interchange of courage/fear, love/hate, masculine/feminine, etc is what shapes us as characters.
