Hunx And His Punx are typically in the habit of making glamour-filled girl-laden Motown garagey songs and we loved every minute of it. In a coy, tongue-in-cheek tribute to their name, the Seth Bogart-led group has moved from the sweeter side of the tracks with sodapops and saddle shoes to the barbwired broken bottle-ridden cave where the bad boys go. Their album, Too Young To Be In Love, is a shirtless, headless man in a leather jacket on a pink background, and in a nod to their scuzzed-up, angrier transition to the roots of punk, they've announced Street Punk, featuring a shirtless man covered in tattoos and angry scrawlings. The first track we've heard from the release is “Bad Skin”, and just barely clocking in at 90 seconds, it is fast, riot-heavy, and anthemic. Utilizing a slow build and a dark bass line, Hunx eventually reels into screaching “I've got bad skinnnnnn” and it's an awakening for the band into new, grimier territory.
Bad Skin releases on July 23 through Hardly Art. You can download “Bad Skin” below, and then check out Hunx being punx with his Punx on tour at the dates listed.
