If the world really is going to end in 2012, I have a list of things I want to do before I get sucked away into an unknown vortex of time and space. I want to buy a pony. I'd like to visit the Pope. I want to sleep with Ryan Gosling, multiple times. Starting a record label isn't first on my list, or even on my list at all, but clearly, Akron/Family has a very different list than I do. After a wide variety of music experiments, collaborations, and wide-spread success, the band has decided to start their own record label starting in 2012. The first release on the band's label, Family Tree Records, will be Bad Weather California's Sunkissed. The Denver misfit band has been rocking hard at biker bars out west but now, with a wider release, are looking to go big. Family Tree also plans on producing a record for Ju Young Lee, AKA Praything, as well as assorted Akron/Family side projects and unreleased tracks. Below is a video of Bad Weather California riding bicycles, if you're into that kind of stuff.
