Former member of Emanon and Stones Throw artist, Aloe Blacc is backed by Truth & Soul house band El Michels Affair on his latest soul single.
Expect Aloe Blacc to finally get the critical acclaim he's long deserved as his latest single “I Need A Dollar” is the theme song to HBO's new series How To Make It In America. Blacc has done his soul singer/rapper thing for a decade plus. His new record Good Things could not have come at a better time. With the resurgence of soul music via labels like Stones Throw, Now & Again and Truth & Soul, Blacc's style fits nicely into the canon of these brilliant times in revival.
“I Need A Dollar” is a punchy bop number, fleshed out by the illustrious Truth & Soul horn section, wailing along with Blacc's woeful words. While in New York Recording with T&S and Lee Fields and the Expressions, Aloe remixed the Lee Fields song “Truth, Deception and Lies.” The single is available with the purchase of My World at the Truth & Soul store.
