Altopalo, “Picchu Machu”

Michael Giordano

Colin Marchon

When there is more than one ‘fro being rocked in a band of four it is a certainty that some good tunes are going to be made. Case and point: Brooklyn-based Altopalo. The live performance electronic outfit released their debut single, “Picchu Machu”, this weekend and it did not disappoint. The wavering track touches on sampling, jarring synth tones, bubbly guitars and hooky choruses, ultimately landing in a category that even the band has trouble simply putting, referring to it as an “electronic groove musical dance extravaganza.” While there may be a lot going on, the band exhibits extreme patience and intelligent structural choices, masking complexity with precisely placed resolution.

You can stream the track below via the band's Bandcamp where it can be downloaded at whatever price you please.
