Astronautica, “Warm Days & Warmer Nights” Mix

At only 23 years of age and a recent graduate of Cal State Fullerton, Edrina Martinez's Astronautica moniker is rising within the ranks of the Los Angeles electronic scene. She received early tutelage from Daedelus and encouragement from Shlohmo prior to her debut Replay Last Night in 2013. Earlier this year she dropped the Waikiki EP, which was created while seeking shelter from a tropical storm on the Hawaiian island last year. Clearly in a better place back in Southern California, Astronautica's “Warm Days & Warmer Nights” mix forgoes the traumatic inspiration for an adventure through the feel good jams of an idealistic radio station.

Her curation for our Friday Night series runs the gamut of classic female-fronted r&b from the 90s, from TLC's “No Scrubs” to Ghost Town DJs' “My Boo” (and yes, you're thinking it was an INOJ song, but you are popularly mistaken). While her recorded material flirts with the introspective side of electronic production, her curatorial skills leave the pensive stuff at home in favor of an experience that will guide you from the outfit selection process to the first stop on a carefree Friday night.

Astronautica's Waikiki EP is out now on Alpha Pup and available on iTunes.
