John Barrett may look like a grimy altar boy runaway, but that doesn't mean he hasn't had his head in the game of writing and performing clean, hooky punk songs since 2008 when he abandoned his one man act to start Bass Drum of Death, behind which he has consistently been the driving creative force from the start. This week, he announced a chunk of tour dates beginning in St. Louis and ending in his hometown of Mississippi, as well as shared a new single, “Black Don't Glow” off the band's self-titled sophomore album. The track seems to roll proudly around its own electric, retro tone, carefully hammered out just-so. Even if it could stand to pick up the pace a bit, the final product is undeniably addictive.
The LP is currently out on Innovative Leisure. Check out the flier below for tour dates, and stream the track here.
