Rising British artist offers invigorating take on indie folk pop
“I Saw My Death Today,” the latest release from Bears Banquet, presents a distinctive take on British indie folk and pop. This single follows a series of successful releases and builds anticipation for Baring’s forthcoming debut album Fighting Mist In Light. With a unique songwriting style and collaborations with Ivor Novello and Steve Robson, Adam’s music is a standout in the genre. “I Saw My Death Today” was written during a difficult period in his life when he was working a tedious office job; the track reflects the feeling of being confined by the pressures of money.
“The song was written at a time when I was working a soul-corroding office job and listening to a lot of Velvet Underground and Lou Reed,” he shared. “I think the Richard Ashcroft quote “we’re a slave to money and then we die” in the chorus pretty much sums up the sentiment of the song and the thoughts that were going round my head at the time.”
