If you’re looking for a stacked bill of hyper-literate wordsmithery, you can’t do much better than the new Busdriver track, “Ego Death”. The lead single off the LA alt. hip-hopper’s upcoming LP, Perfect Hair, also features the man with a better vocab than Shakespeare apparently, Aesop Rock, Danny Brown, and––the icing on the cake––production by Jeremiah Jae, easily distilling the four highly distinctive styles into one nuclear word-bomb with enough power to decimate the entire Western seaboard. A few highlights: “punk-Marx,” Busdriver “playing patty-cake with Ira Glass,” and Danny Brown calling himself rap’s Marilyn Manson.
Perfect Hair is out September 9 on Big Dada.
