Cool Angels, Slow Chase Scenes CS

Being as there is never a right way to properly or accurately cover ambient music, Cool Angels have got me slightly tongue-tied. In their cassette release through Dream Recordings, a steady nine tracks that float along generously, I searched for the right words to encompass its beauty and character, knowing that “beauty and character” weren't enough to truly cover what was an excellent, expansive release. If anything, settling on metaphors is the best way, and while floating in a pool of liquid Jello might not appeal to most, the feeling that the Cool Angels tape disseminates is one of utter calm and peace, like a liquid dreamstate. Tinged with the occasional sadness and with a pallor that leans more toward dark, cooler colors than bright, warm ones, you will find at the very least momentary ease in a straight listen through Slow Chase Scenes. The project of former Speculator mastermind Nicholas Ray and with artwork by Weekend's Shaun Durkan, an all-star release this surely is.

We have the exclusive full stream for you below, as well as the first video from the project, a Samuel Stonefield-directed cut for “If You Want To Break It Off”. You can pick up the tape through Dream Recordings.
