Many thanks go to FatCat for compiling the meat of Dead Gaze's stealth ouput since 2009. A member of the Cats Purring Collective, Dead Gaze is the pet project of Cole Furlow, who strikes us as a reclusive Southern boy that'd rather putz around in a home studio shed than tour the world. His limited pressings with Fire Talk, Clan Destine, and Group Tightener are all long sold out, while news of future Dead Gaze music has been frustratingly quiet.
Our hope is the self-titled compilation, while not encompassing the entirety of his catalog (boo, no “It's Not Real”?), aims to purge Furlow of his past so that the future of Dead Gaze, which includes a five piece band, may achieve the trajectory its long deserved. To whet the whistle, listen to “I Found The Ending” and get lost in Furlow's signature woozy sonics that sound like Yoshimi battling a giant squid 10,000 leagues under the sea.
Dead Gaze is out May 21 via Fatcat/Palmist.
