Whatever possessed Dirty Beaches, a.k.a. Alex Hungtai, to record his cover of The Stooges' “No Fun” as though it were a Suicide cover, god bless that inspiration.
A restrained intensity prods through the lo-fi hypnosis, while Hungtai plays it cooler than Alan Vega an icebox. But Hungtai is respectful, not owing the entirety of his inspiration to Mr. Vega, he rips loose for the intermittent Iggy wail of “well c'mon!”
