Brooklyn's Flagland, who are tightknit brothers with Impose favorites Big Ups, will be releasing their third record on Father/Daughter Records this February, the first single for which is embedded below and premiered on Stereogum this morning. “Comfortable Life” is a brilliant mix of Elliott Smith-inflected anxiety, subtle whining and shapeshifting melodies, that inevitably switches to a crushing, piercing guitar at a decibel you hadn't prepared your ears for. The contrast serves to elevate the track to a Pile-like, Grass Is Green-esque anxiety, pummeling your heart with blowback as you get the wind knocked out of you from behind.
You can stream “Comfortable Life” below, then head to Father/Daughter Records for a preorder of Love Hard—Flagland's twenty-song opus—out on Feburary 25 of next year.
