Flamingosis, “Surface”

Michael Giordano

Andrew Walker

Aaron Velasquez, better known as Flamingosis, has no shortage of material in his musical repertoire to prove deserving of his ties with Keats Collective, an independent label on the forefront of the future-funk genre. After honing in on a style of sample-based groove and soul with a series of releases over the past couple years, Flamingosis is set to release his self-titled LP next week, which features the recently released single “Surface.” Flamingosis hits us hard with slapped bass lines and swung grooves to drive along his sampled-vocal chops, in what might be the hippest song you’ll hear all week. You can stream the track below.

The S/T LP is out January 20 via Keats Collective.
