In a recent Twitter Q&A session, Flying Lotus revealed his next LP has a tracklist, a title, and is almost ready for mixing. It's the home fuggin' stretch and as long as the artwork does not take too long, we will should conceivably get a new FlyLo record by early summer, if not sooner.
FlyLo also revealed the album has a “jazzy feel,” which to us is welcomed news. But, to some FlyLo faithful the idea that he may never make music similar the Low End Theory sounds he came up on, is possibly a be a bit disheartening. After reaching 300,000 followers on Twitter yesterday, the LA-based producer offered a generous glimpse into his workbench of demos with a 24-song free download folder entitled, “ideas+drafts+loops”. While each piece remains largely incomplete, the collection contains a smorgasborg of vintage FlyLo sounds like “Stonecutters”, “Chasing Apples”, and “Osaka Trade”.
The wealth of material in the digital link also includes a remix to Kanye's “Black Skinhead” (feat. Thundercat), demos for the Aqua Teen theme song, and collaborations with Mapei, Baths, The Underchievers, and Shabazz Palaces.
