When Real Estate announced that they'd be releasing a new album this year, it came with a hint of improbability. Hadn't morning-heavy musings already passed their prime? Would newly hardened guitar-rock fans be able to turn off their distortion pedals and get back into the blissful daydream of dreampop? Surprisingly, the answer is yes, and Full Ugly are following suit in what might be considered a dreampop resurgance. Full of shiny, fresh guitars and soft vocals so close they feel as friendly as Daniel Johnston and as bright as a spring day. Perhaps this is the sign that the winter months will vanish sooner than we thought.
Full Ugly, whose name belies their talents, will release their debut record, Spent the Afternoon through Fire Records/Bedroom Suck on April 7.
