Gentlemen, “Children of the Setting Sun”

Michael Giordano

Gentlemen

The psychedelic-rock revival is becoming stark just as quickly as it thrust itself into circle of mainstream indie. Armed and steadied, the London-based fivepiece Gentlemen is set to take on the challenge of destroying that sentiment. Their first release from their debut EP, Night Reels I, entitled “Children of the Setting Sun,” is a freewheeling groove with killing bass lines and a chorus equipped with lushly and maximally layered falsetto vocals that would impress even Danger Mouse himself. The slower verses remind of a more intricately crafted “I Will Possess Your Heart” intro-jam as hand drums beat in the distance while crisp minimalistic fluttering guitars cradle heartfelt vocals. Sure to be one of the better EP’s of autumn. Listen below for a taste of what’s to come.

Night Reels I is out November 11 through Week of Wonders.
