Post Louis, “Your Hotel”

Post Author:

“Don't get deep with me,” croons Stephanie Davin in the opening moments of “Your Hotel.” Her voice is gentle yet assertive, layered delicately over Robbie Stern's lyrical guitar picking. Together Davin and Stern make up Post Louis, the London-based duo on the cusp of releasing their debut EP. The track's initial plaintiveness soon gives way to drums and a wash of distortion. The crunchy and meandering guitars aren't unlike those heard in Cajun Dance Party, Stern's former band that featured Max Bloom and Daniel Blumberg of Yuck. But as Yuck seems to be winding down, Post Louis appears to be taking off. On “Your Hotel,” Davin's whimpering bawl is paired harmoniously, albeit esoterically, with Stern's sprawling solo and stabs of noisy squall.

The four-track EP This Could Be A Bridge is out November 12 on Inflated Records. “Your Hotel” is available for free download at Rolling Stone. You can catch Post Louis in Europe this month supporting Porcelain Raft.
