Honey Bucket, “Downtown”

Post Author:

Honey Bucket is a band that is transcending genres in the Pacific Northwest, not quite taking sides with classic pop, vintage punk, or garage. Their upcoming LP, Magical World, is out August 19th, but we’ve got the premiere of their latest single “Downtown” available for you now.

The beginning riff immediately snags your attention, ethereal and light in its portrayal. Heavier guitar and drums join, giving a more staccato feel to the song, while the vocals are much more spoken than sang. This is to be expected, as we can pinpoint the sound to be distinctly Portland punk-driven. The instrumentals are driven into a repetitive frenzy near the end, and “Downtown” closes out with the crash of cymbals.

We’re here to note that this song is laced with the perfect combination of end-of-summer vibes and nostalgia. There’s no doubt it’s going to be a real crowd pleaser on Honey Bucket’s extensive tour, beginning in mid-August.
