When I saw newlywed Charleston duo Tape Waves at NYC Popfest, I was immediately transported out of the cramped Cake Shop and onto the beach. For those who have never listened to Tape Waves, their name alone should immediately evoke a feeling of nostalgia for summer days.
Following the release of several stellar EPs, Tape Waves is proud to premiere the first single from their debut album, Let You Go. “All I Can See” is a simple ode to true love that displays the Weldins' mastery of swooning surf pop. “All I can see / All I can see is you,” croons Kim, her voice containing the warmth and comfort of the softest blanket, backed by Jarod's twinkling guitar. There are many bands who can capture the essence of love, but few can make it sound as pure as Tape Waves.
