Jamie Cruickshank
Bristol-native Jamie Cruickshank, has made a name for himself as one of the countries most promising new songwriters with his distinctive blend of folk & Jangly songwriting.
As a solo artist, Jamie recently supported Lucy Dacus on her European tour, as well as opening for Michael Nau, James Yorkston, and Mishka Shubaly. He has performed multiple times for SOFAR, he has played WOMAD and Farmfest. As lead guitar and vocals for The Gnarwhals and Human Bones he has played Shambala and supported Yak, Sunflower Bean, and FIDLAR.
As a songwriter with a passion for mathematics, Jamie has always been keen to marry the two sides of his personality. Nowhere is this more evident than in his new EP. The ‘Worn Through’ EP is a stunning collection of works, that ebbs and flows between the corners of the folk spectrum.
“I’m a mathematician, and the themes through the record are mathematical descriptions of nature and family relationships and communication. I tried to show that family networks are fractals: space-filling patterns that are infinitely detailed – I compare lines of family communication with natural fractals such as the silhouettes of winter trees, coastlines, and clouds.”
