When you're already starting out with the greatest collaboration name of all time, there are only so many places to move up from there. With a perfectly retro album cover and a forbidding track title, Janet is putting all the pieces in place before we even hear the music. Then, in twelve solid minutes of persistent club dance music that shifts and shapes like we're shaking off the sweat, “Shouldnt” proves that sometimes the formula can achieve perfection. Perhaps Janet is going after the Pythagorean Theorem of dance, or maybe it's serendipity, but the result is a captivating exercise in best practices, which all came together through the collab of James Friley, Auto Delta Time, and Young Daniel.
