JD Samson & MEN shared the highly danceable “All The Way Thru” last month, and have now come forward with a new track on her upcoming record, Labor, the simply titled “Making Art”. The lyrics (despite how infectious the beat is), are what really resonate here. Combining the dense, heavy-laden, multicolored track with lines that we've all been there for, Samson laments “My friends are making art and I sit” and it's a fib that makes us chuckle. Samson, whose record comes out next month, is clearly making art while others (namely us) sit. The feeling will likely resonate with a lot of listeners, as that inertia is too real when it feels like everyone is out there doing something big.
Labor is available for preorder at her Bandcamp on October 22, and Samson will be playing a release party with Beverly (Frankie Rose's other band) at Union Pool on October 26.
