With the upcoming Bent Nail EP to release on Exploding In Sound Records next month, Ellen Kempner (the woman behind Palehound) is making the wait for the street date feel even harder. “Drooler”, which follows up the excellent “Pet Carrot”, is a track whose strength is found in its ability to move between genres and styles—at once, we are settled into the soft, bedroom vibe of just Kempner and her guitar, then we're thrown into the kitchen as pots and pans are clanged and aggressive guitars push the song to its pinnacle. The consistent factors on “Drooler” are both Kempner's milky vocals and her interesting, off-kilter lyrics, and it makes us all the more certain that Bent Nail will positively shine.
