La Luz may be from a cold, wet climate, but their music rings of sunnier places and warm beaches. On the second single from their forthcoming It's Alive debut, the four ladies are resorting to the heart-pleasing “oos” of surfy tracks and Motown splendor to give us a little bit of that pink slime. Right out the gate, the song has a heartbeat that is crispy and go-get-em—it barely slows down for a moment until the key changes alongside a brutally fun organ. The first track we heard from Seattle's La Luz was “Big Blood”, and though the surfy windswept analogies will continue on and on, there is something to be said about how much that sound has been missing and simply how well La Luz pulls it off. We're going to ride this wave into the reverby, waterlogged sunset.
