Lumerians are a San Francisco-based future psych quintet who would probably feel comfy in a Chinese fire drill with contemporaries like Woodsman during a continent-long road trip from this track “Atlanta Brook” back to their Pacific homeland, guitar-shred horizon all the way.
But as much as you can hear the druggy tweak-out psychedelia of the 60s in this music, Lumerians aren't all deep-throwback, cutesy revivalism; “Atlanta Brook” is as much 90s methadone Spiritualized as it is Piper at the Gates of Dawn.
The track appears off their debut LP, Transmalinnia, out on Knitting Factory Records March 1. Fun fact: the album was recorded in a former church in Oakland that the band converted into a studio and home brewery. If prohibition II strikes, you now know one place to look for.
