Melting Reeds – Sundown

Swiss indie-psych band explores luminous, ethereal soundscapes on new EP

Amidst a cacophony of manufactured tunes, Melting Reeds shines brightly with their latest EP Sundown. This captivating compilation of five tracks invites listeners into a world where velvety vocals intertwine seamlessly with luminous guitar melodies, weaving a tapestry of ethereal soundscapes. Think Tame Impala or Pond but from the Swiss mountains.

The genuine emotional resonance of each track on Sundown has already sparked an outpouring of heartfelt appreciation on social media platforms, illustrating the band’s ability to forge authentic connections through their music. Melting Reeds’ commitment to creating both a digital sanctuary and a tangible space of serenity is palpable, as they effortlessly translate their sincerity into every note and chord.

Drawing inspiration from the comfort of home-cooked meals, Melting Reeds infuses each composition with a personal touch, inviting listeners to embark on an intimate journey through their sonic landscape. Recorded amidst the tranquil beauty of Leysin, a picturesque Swiss mountain village, Sundown captures the essence of their style.

“In the spring of 2020, I said to myself: ‘you’ve got to do something, you’ve got to create, you’ve got to get out what’s in your guts or you’ll regret it for the rest of your life’. I wanted to make music the way you cook at home. I think it’s a good mindset to create as close to yourself as possible,” the band shared.

They continued: “From then on, the project appealed and several people close to me joined the adventure. We were able to play several concerts between 2021 and 2022, and recorded this EP in Leysin, a small village in the Swiss mountains at Benoit Erard’s (L’Eclair). Melting Reeds is homemade, lovingly crafted by friends and family.”
