United by the metropolitan residential districts of Los Angeles and the production of the Team Supreme, Catcher of the Fade is a four track collection featuring lotus land luminaries like Open Mike Eagle, Busdriver, VerBS, Nietzche Cortez (formerly Rheteric Ramirez), William Thedford IV, and honorary Angeleno milo.
Catcher of the Fade—with its sly J.D. Salinger nod—is reminiscent of the Dorner vs Tookie compilation from 2013, and to dig deeper celebrates the Blowedian heritage of which many of these artists were born and many are benefactors of its legacy. The Team Supreme production from Penthouse Penthouse, Promnite, Nalepa, and Great Dane uproots the historical context for an animated modern magnificence of warped, Alpha-Pup endorsed Low End Theorist progressions and codeine-dose r&b inflections.
