Pop music can come in a variety of forms these days, and it's no longer a shameful act to indulge it. Pawws, the solo project of Londoner Lucy Taylor, has been releasing tracks that are tasty and sweet like some of the best of the Top 40, while also maintaining a connection to dance and underground music with their intelligent nuances. On “Outside”, a shiny new one-off that Pawws released today in advance of a short tour, her treacle-filled voice floats high above a pulsy beat, shouting out to contemporaries like Autre Ne Veut and Pure Bathing Culture simultaneously. Her music is imminently likable and strong, never breaching into over-the-top pop melodies that would reduce its simplicity to garishness.
“Outside” is available to stream here, and you can catch Pawws at the dates listed below. Her previous two singles were released on ASL Records.
