With the third single to release from Porches.'s upcoming Slow Dance in the Cosmos record, we're seeing the depth and breadth of what the band can manage. In a short (perhaps too short) track titled “Skinny Trees”, the band willfully takes on a darker, freak-rock outlook by bumping through levels of unfiltered sludge that are put in relief by moments of clear, unfiltered singing. The track feels reminiscent of some of Tim Kasher's weirder tracks, with a hint of Thee Oh Sees' strange charm.
