Ryan Hemsworth releases Backstreet Boys' remix

Ryan Hemsworth, smiley face perpetrator and social media obsessive, has delivered a new remix for a Backstreet Boys song, “Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely”. Without going into too much speculation about what the fuck that song was even about, it's clear that the remix is a song for the Gen Y babies, who grew up squealing and screaming with glitter all over their faces in praise of the manufactured boy band. The original track came out on BSB's Millennium in 1999 (what up, Y2K?), when Hemsworth was only 9, so it's funny to hear him put his touch on it. It feels like a trip to Tokyo, riding the digital wave by hacking your teenage sister's IP address. A blend of what was once old is new again, and what is new is practically vintage, Hemsworth puts his signature light-touch production quality on it, albeit for a much dancier track than we're used to from the Canadian. Though we avoided sharing Hemsworth's slowed-down Outkast remix, this seems like a worthy share—there's enough sparkle on this track to make up an entire Claire's Accessories.

You can download the track by clicking here. But you have to have a Twitter account, so olds need not apply.
