SNS, The Hangover II

A famous Rakim quote bathing in codiene kicks off SNS's The Hangover II, while a songstress croons along deep in the ether of the last night's lingering weed smoke and stale beer stench. This is the Hangover II on sizzrppp. SNS are from St. Louis, which places them at the Gateway between the East and West. Rightfully so, The Hangover II is equal parts Houston screwed, Dungeon Family funk, and East Coast boom bap.

SNS are the sum of their influences, as they lace a classic Ice Cube line or the Big Boi refrain “feelin' good, feelin' great, how are you?” with a lean-enduced drowsiness and infuse it with plenty of St. Louis flavor. Their label Far Fetched puts out music ranging from hip hop to ambient, and on tracks like “PS3 (Games)”, they sew a thread uniting the CFCF slow jams remixes with a twangy Southern R&B. With The Hangover II, SNS crafted a party record that pushes towards escapist vices, but keeps a voice of reason beneath the surface, that Jiminey Cricket in your skull that asks “Do you need a drink to have fun?”.

The Hangover II is available at a name your price offering, but can also be purchased for $15 and includes a limited edition print of the album art.
