Now that Fresh Daily is caught up on our Dom Kennedy appreciation, we're in Dom's circle. Our interest couldn't have come a moment later as Dom dropped The Original Dom Kennedy mixtape yesterday with no press release, no leaked tracks and no promotional videos – just a few casual tweets.
Dom took the studio with Chuck Inglish and Polyester for TODK and the vibes took Dom towards fuzzy memory lane breaks. TODK finds loose associations to the G-Funk era and Death Row heyday with cuts like “Playas Punch” and “The Homies” finding a comfort zone in booming systems and the squealing synths first lifted from the “Funky Worm” break. It's Friday, so we suggest you take notes on the playas punch recipe that Dom drops, stir that mix up, roll one up and mellow out to Dom's new tape.
