Extra Life's single “Headshrinker” is a brutal slap in the face. It's all “look at your life and fix your shit” type shit. On the less heavier side, Tyondai Braxton of Battles made a danceable remix to blow your inheritance to.
I am out running earlier this week and Battles' “Atlas” came on my shuffle – damn, that song is good for an extra eight minutes of adrenaline fueled foot speed. It's been a good eight months to a year since I last heard that song, which got me wondering when is the next Battles album going to give my digital equipment a computer boner? Metacritic lists it as a potential release for 2010. Let's just cross our fingers that the band is hard at work.
To wet our appetite Tyondai Braxton's afro remixed “Headshrinker.” We're having a difficult time discerning what Braxton extrapolated from the original. All we know is that Charlie Looker wants you to face facts and Braxton knows how to make an ATM machine growl on beat and demand you fill your neck with drinks and late night upper binges – spend, spend, SPEND!
The remix is off Extra Life's forthcoming remix EP, Splayed
Flesh, out June 22 on Planaria/Sockets.
