A one-off single from Toronto's Weaves brings an avant weirdness to an otherwise poppy track. With a voice like a trip into the wild woods, Toronto scene staple Jasmyn Burke brings us angrily and fully through a coaster of a ride by way of mathy, minor-melodied tones and blips. Especially as the underlying bass line runs up and down to keep the song going, “Motorcycle” feels like it could pace on underneath an unsettling carnival ride in a bizarro world or it might be found on the Beetlejuice soundtrack. It's a standout first single for the band Weaves and we can't wait to see what else they have coming down the pipeline through Buzz Records.
