If you are feeling charitable over the Memorial Day weekend, may we suggest giving some money to Cake Shop, so they can stay open? Yes, surprise, surprise, another one of New York's music venues is in trouble. After closing Bruar Falls last year, apparently the combined costs of Manhattan real estate levies, stringent new security needs, and legislative fines have combined to bring the financial strain. In the manner of today, the Bodes brothers have started a fundraising campaign on the site Pledge Music, asking friends of the Internet to give to help strap open the doors and keep the Christmas lights dangling from the ceiling of the only remaining worthwhile thing on the Lower East Side other than Russ & Daughters. We at Impose suggest giving as much as you can, just to help keep foreign bands from thinking they have to play Lit or Delancey or some awful joint like that. Also, as you heard in the video, the dudes plan on using any excess to start a record label, so that would be awesome! Let the money roll on in!
