On May 9, Dan Deacon, along with Weekends' (among other bands) member Adam Lempel and musician Sunatirene, performed new music to a seated crowd at the Mt. Vernon Place United Methodist Cathedral in their hometown of Baltimore. Lempel posted videos of the evening on his youtube page, showing Deacon perched up on the mezzanine, orchestrating from a computer as his shimmering MIDI-controlled church organ sounds, layered over an electronic drone, spilled into every corner of the room. He played a piece called “Nim Stimbler Nine Ice”, a little over 18 minutes in length, and split between the two videos below. Earlier this month, he published on his website that he's tracking a new album, with dates TBA.
