Canadian hardcore band Fucked Up have announced plans to release their latest Zodiac-related EP, Year Of The Hare, later this summer. Recorded over a two year period at Electrical Audio, Key Club Studios, and Candle Studios, we’re going to assume Fucked Up wrote the title track in 2012 (the year of the rabbit). A 21-minute epic that sees the band explore the realms of piano, synths, flutes, sax, and ethereal soundscapes; it’s one of the most expansive tracks the Toronto outfit have released to date (an accomplishment, considering they’ve released over 80 recordings). “Year Of The Hare” also features guest vocals from Isla Craig. The B-Side, “California Cold”, is a more traditional melodic-punk anthem that extends into a psychedelic ham that slowly builds into an eight-and-a-half minute song. It’s like they’ve taken a page out of Thee Oh Sees handbook.

Year Of The Hare will be released on June 16 via Deathwish.
