Kurt Vile given the highest honor in Philadelphia

Philadelphia might not be a thriving city like, say, Tokyo or San Francisco, but when we honor our musicians, you'd think we could do a little better than a janky tin replica Liberty Bell as a gift. Kurt Vile, who has paid tribute to our ailing lower-borough metropolis in his latest record, Wakin on a Pretty Daze, through a still-standing mural in North Philly, was granted both a Kurt Vile Day (8/28) and the highest honor in Philly. You can watch footage of the ceremony below, where Vile plays “Wakin On a Pretty Day” and accepts the two-bit gift. The least we could do is dip a cheesesteak in gold, no?
