Longrunning punk fanzine Maximum Rocknroll recently announced Still Not Quiet on the Western Front, a weekend-long music festival slated for February 11-14. The lineup, posted in full below and due for further additions, includes crucial West Coast punk and hardcore acts such as Iron Lung, Replica, Permanent Ruin, Arctic Flowers, Lysol, and Criminal Code; along with outstanding representatives of other locales and styles such as Generacion Suicida, In School, Cold Beat, and Buck Biloxi & the Fucks. A note on the Facebook event page dissuades bands from attempting to join the bills, with the exception of Gauze.
The fest, named after a compilation co-released by MRR and Alternative Tentacles in 1982, is composed of nine separate shows at different locations both in the East Bay and San Francisco, where the monthly publication is headquartered. Updates, including additional acts, venue, and ticketing details, are expected soon from the MRR site.
Still Not Quiet on the Western Front marks something of a return to form for the fanzine, which in its earliest incarnation helped establish 924 Gilman St. Project; and earlier this year, MRR reprised its intermittent record label role with the release of a Los Crudos anthology.
