While nothing can brain-warp a college kid quite like Vocal Studios + Uprock Narratives or One Word Extinguisher, Prefuse still has a deep bag of tricks in The Forest of Oversensitivity, a five song accomplice to his LP Everything She Touched Turned Ampexian. On a couple of the tracks, the old shine of his earlier work come through, but who wants to dwell on that? Let's assume there's some new directions here. If you take a look at the “Simple Loop Choir” you'll find that it goes a step farther towards Boards of Canada ambience by way of organs and voices drifting out from an ivory Cathedral on a hill. If ever there was an emptying out of everything dirty and grimy in Prefuse 73, this would be the track.
