Radiohead do it again. The experimental overlords announced their eighth studio album today, giving us just five day's notice before it becomes available for digital download on February 19. Recorded by longtime producer Nigel Godrich, The King Of Limbs will be Radiohead's second release since leaving label giant EMI, and is already up for pre-order via thekingoflimbs.com. It'll also come out as a heftily-priced physical release (between $48-$53, depending on audio quality), which gets you two clear 10″ vinyls, a CD, 625 pieces of artwork (?), and several other goodies.
The physical release, which Camp Radiohead is calling a “Newspaper Album,” ships May 9, so expect to sit on your hands through the rest of the winter while you wait for the postman to bring you your Yorkeian fix in physical form.
Radiohead claims this is the world's first Newspaper Album, which may or may not mean anything but will surely gather a shitstorm of buzz. As with In Rainbows, which was announced just ten days before its release in fall of 2007, The King Of Limbs with be available from XL and TBD Records in US & Canada, and Hostess Entertainment in Japan.
