Finally! Our queen hath returned!!! After leaving her loyal fans empty-handed since her 2010 album Have One on Me, Joanna Newsom has suddenly announced her fourth LP, Divers. The news arrives with a video for the record’s first single, “Sapokanikan,” which finds our favorite harpist wandering through the Big Apple. The five minute clip is directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, whose 2014 film Inherent Vice featured Newsom. We don’t know much about Divers, but we do know that it features arrangements from Newsom, Nico Muhly, Dirty Projectors’ Dave Longstreth, and Ryan Francesconi, and was recorded by Steve Albini and Noah Georgeson.
Divers is out October 23 via Drag City.
